Socio-economic measures for the coronavirus crisis in the Republic of North Macedonia

  • The state saves jobs, MKD 14,500 per month per employee for April and May, for companies affected by the crisis or 50% of the cost of contributions for each employee
  • Assistance for athletes – MKD 14,500 for the months of April and May, direct funds for athletes and sports workers to save their jobs
  • Help for artists
  • Cash compensation for the citizens who lost their jobs due to the crisis, in accordance with the length of service through the Employment Agency
  • All elected and appointed officials received a minimum salary of MKD 14,500 in April and May 2020
  • Chairmen and members of management and supervisory boards of public institutions will not receive compensation for the duration of the crisis
  • The state takes care of people who were part of the informal economy and lost their income - provides financial assistance to households and utility allowance for social security beneficiaries

  • Reduction of the VAT rate for restaurant services and food and beverage service, by which these services will be taxed with a new preferential VAT rate of 10% instead of the current regular rate of 18%

  • Increase the period to cover losses at the expense of future profits
  • Increasing the threshold which the entities would be part of non-tax corporate income tax regime with and increasing the threshold which the entities would enter the total income regime with
  • Recognition of the cost of private health insurance as a recognised expense
  • Recognition of test costs on COVID - 19, also recognised as an expense
  • Reduction of import duties for raw materials

  • Support for the purchase of grapes from the 2020 harvest
  • Exemption in the amount of 2/3 of the legally prescribed amount for organisers of games of chance
  • Change of calculation of the basis for financing of the Local Self-Government Units
